Magnolia ‘Elizabeth’
The ‘Elizabeth’ Magnolia blooms a bit later than other Magnolias so is less susceptible to April frosts. Elizabeth reigns most beautifully with a bed of tulips or Grape hyacinths, or a pond full of goldfish at her feet!

The burgundy foliage of Ninebark (Physocarpus ‘Center Glow’) stands out nicely against the Colorado Blue Spruce, with Fountain grass (Pennisetum ‘Moudry’) in the foreground
This is the view from the window above my kitchen sink. This window is the one we spend the most time at, shouldn’t the view be wonderful? Plan your garden to be viewed from inside the house as well as out, especially those windows where you most often gaze out to see what the day looks like. You’ll be pleased each time, whether the sun is out or not!
Our garden space at Mansion in May is finished and ready for visitors. It is space # 4, “The Lady’s Garden”. Designed around the existing 100-year-old statue, it is a ‘white garden’. A white garden gives a feeling of cool serenity on a hot summer day. The absence of color leads the visitor to focus on the texture and variegation of the foliage. White blooms stand out in the evening, and are often fragrant.
We built the stone wall to raise the planting area so as not to disturb the roots of the ancient Oak trees. The patio is the best vantage point to take in the magnificent architecture of the mansion.
